The EZ8 car was built to show the flexibility of the Elk-M1 family of products (and for fun too!!!). The M1 and EZ8's internal Rules Engine combined with an extensive ASCII protocol make the possibilities virtually endless...

The M1EZ8 remote control car was designed by Chris Whitworth (Elk engineer)

It’s main control board is an ELK EZ8 Security and Automation Controller.  It communicates to a small program running on a PC or Ultra Mobile PC via 802.11 LAN link.  Under the car is mounted an ELK IP232 Ethernet module with connects the 802.11 router (silver box on top) to the M1EZ8 control.  Rules have been written in the M1EZ8 to control servo motors driving the steering and a gearbox for the forward/back movement.  Automated Outlet, Inc. helped in sponsoring the car and provided the Panasonic pan tilt zoom camera mounted to the front bumper.
