How to Install Skin Files

Default Skin File


  This is the default skin file supplied with ElkRMS.

Landscape - 800 x 426

This skin file is designed to run on mobile devices with a screen resolution of 800 x 480.  The skin actually runs at 800 x 426.  Use this skin if you find that the bottom of the default skin gets "cut off" on your 
mobile device.

Portrait - 480 x 747

 

This skin file is designed to run in portrait orientation on mobile devices with a screen resolution of 
480 x 800.  The skin actually runs at 480 x 747 to prevent the bottom of the page from getting "cut off"

Skin File for 320 x 240 Screen Resolution

This skin file for ELK-RM (RMS) is designed to run on Windows mobile devices* with a screen resolution of 
320 x 240.  ELK-RM (RMS) version 2.0.2 or later is required to use this skin file.

Installing Skin Files
Mobile Devices

1. Download file from PC and save to desktop. Unzip or extract the contents.
2. Make sure RMS is not running on mobile device then, connect mobile device to PC
3. Locate current skin file (RMS.rmc) on mobile device in the Program Files/ElkRM folder and rename the skin file to default_RMS.rmc
4. Copy the downloaded skin file from desktop to the Program Files/ElkRM folder on the mobile device and rename the file to RMS.rmc.
5. Launch ElkRM. It should now display the new skin.

 

ELK Touchscreen

Note: Touchscreen must have ElkRM version 2.0.2 or later.
1. Download file from PC and save to desktop. Unzip or extract the contents.
2. Create ElkRM folder on a USB Flash Drive. Save extracted files to the ElkRM on the USB Flash Drive
3. Remove Bezel from the front of the Touchscreen. Plug USB Flash Drive into USB Port
4. After a short wait a screen will appear showing the skin file(s) stored on the USB flash drive. Touch the desired skin file and then touch OK.
5. The file will be transferred to the touchscreen and after a few seconds the new skin will appear on the screen. Wait 10 seconds, then remove the USB flash drive from the USB port and replace the bezel.



PC (Desktop or Laptop)

1. Download file from PC and save to desktop. Unzip or extract the contents.
2. Locate the extracted skin file. Skin files can be identified with the suffix (.RMC). Example: Default.rmc Copy the skin file.
3. Go to My Computer and navigate to the following location on the local hard drive:
Vista or later- c:\Program Data\RM
XP or earlier- c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\RM
4. Open the ElkRM folder. Locate and rename the file RMS.RMC to OLDRMS.RMC. This “backup” can be used in the event your new skin file is not desired.
5. Paste the file copied in Step 2 into the ElkRM folder. Then rename the file you copied to RMS.RMC. The ElkRM program always expects the current skin file to be named RMS.RMC
6. Launch ElkRM and the new skin should appear.



NOTE:

These skin files are provided as a free download for the express use by licensed customers of ElkRM.  This file is not a standalone or executable program.  It will only work if the customer already owns a copy of the ElkRM Remote Management software.  This file supports many features of the ElkRM program but does NOT support each and every function.  Customer assumes all liability for its use.  Elk does not provide telephone support for this and makes no statement or guarantee as to its fit and/or function.  

*Devices must meet system requirement to run ELK-RM software and/or utilize this skin file.
