Sitting here over three years later with the exact same issue and solved it in a similar fashion. Disconnected everything from the data bus including the M1DBHR except for the M1XRFTWM and ran the update again and it worked perfectly. Bit of a pain but definitely better than a bricked wireless transceiver!
