Occasionally my M1 (2.0.51 M1XEP, 5.3.30 panel) displays “ethernet
trouble”, and depending on the nature of the problem (watchlight
routing outage? ISP local problem?), it usually fixes itself in
minutes, occasionally hours.
However, “ethernet trouble” can be (but isn’t always?) accompanied by
a chirp/beep from the keypad every 30 seconds. Possibly the beeping
behavior depends on firmware version: For ancient firmware, I don’t
recall the old firmware ever beeping for ethernet trouble, but I
updated M1XEP and panel firmware a few months back and it has happened to
me several times since then. Or maybe it only beeps if the trouble happens when
the panel is armed, even if it is in “stay” mode.
I know pressing “*” can be used to manually silence the ethernet
trouble beeping each time this happens, but it isn’t fun when this
happens in the middle of the night!
Is there a setting to make the M1 treat ethernet trouble as a silent
display-only alert? If not, would boosting the M1XEP “heartbeat
interval” from the default 30 seconds to something larger (potentially
much larger, say 24*3600) make the system less sensitive to short
outages? Or are there any other workarounds?
Thanks.
