M1 sends event notifications via email through the XEP interface.  Email however, aren’t always read immediately.  But with email-to-text, you can get notices on your phone instantly as events occur.

ATT announced it is stopping the service with allows people to send messages via email to ATT phones (1235551234@txt.att.net).  The primary notification means for M1 is via email. but most phone carriers allow texts to originate from email sources.  This has become increasingly difficult with ISPs imposing various filters and restrictions to weed out spammers, but this action is the deathnell for ATT customers.

This is not just a M1 problem.  I’m an industrial engineer and a lot of our equipment and facilities use email-to-text and vice versa to manage legacy equipment.  This is going to be a huge problem for industrial and commercial enterprises.  We can switch carriers, but I expect this will be adopted universally eventually.

My question is:  1) does ELK have anything in the works to update M1 notifications to some other avenue than email, and 2) if not, does anyone out there have any recommendations on a 3rd party vehicle or service to do this?  As I said, this is not just an ELK problem.
