I am trying to set up a new Elk M1 Gold.

I have the M1EXP hooked up to the Elk main board. The Elk discovery tool does not find it.

I did get the IP as its plugged into a smart switc,h which gave me the IP of the device plugged into it.

But when I manually set that IP, it says it cant communicate. When I tried pining that IP it doesnt respond. I have tried 2 different M1EXPs and have the same issue.

      Any suggestions?

      Thank you

Please make sure you are running ElkRP2 version 2.0.41 and the M1XEP and your computer are on the same Local Area Network. Also double check to make sure the RS232 cable from the M1 to the M1XEP is fully pressed onto both ports and the M1 is powered On. In ElkRP2 click Setup, Options, Network Adapters and in the dropdown you should see the IP Address of your PC in the LAN. Highlight the IP of your Computer, click OK then from the Account Detail Screen click the M1XEP Setup  and FIND. Does ELKRP2 FIND the M1XEP? If not try using the JP2 Jumper on the M1XEP and the Instruction on page 18 of the M1XEP Installation Manual to make sure the M1XEP is in DHCP Mode. Once in DHCP Mode try to FIND again. If you’re able to lookup the IP of the M1XEP through the router setting then manually enter the IP of the M1XEP into the System URL/IP field , Port should be 2601 and the option to “Connect Non-Secure” should NOT be checked —- please try the connection again.

          I just checked.

          Yes I am running 2.0.41

They are both plugged into the same network switch

The cables is as tight as it can be on both sides and the M1 is powered up.

It does not find the M1exp.

          Thank you

So I set the device to static, and hooked up directly to it. It was now able to be found at 192.168.0.251.

But when I try to connect to it I get the error  below when it says connecting, verifying:

            System did not respond

And in the m1exp set up page it does not let me send or recieve, its greyed out.

            Thank you

What is the IP Address of your computer on the Local Area Network? Is it at 192.168.0.xxx? Try setting the IP of your PC to 192.168.0.200 and the Default Gateway to 192.168.0.1 and on the Account Detail Screen set the System URL/IP to 192.168.0.251, Port 2601 and un-check the Connect Non-Secure box. Try the connection again.

                Yes.

I have two NICs one onthe regular LAN (192.168.1.x), the other is statically set to 192.168.0.210.

I have the rest set the way requested and it doesnt work

Try a network crossover cable directly from the M1XEp to your computer
