Here’s where things stand…
I couldn’t get WiFi to work with the POE47TS adapter supplying power to the 7TS. When I tried to connect to my WiFi access point, I kept getting invalid password results. Also noticed that when I select my access point from the list, it almost immediately goes to the pop-up where the password is entered. I was not able to check the “show password” option on the previous screen, so it was more difficult to ensure I was entering the correct password. I tried the password several times, watching closely as I entered each letter, but it kept coming back as a bad password and “try again”.
I disconnected the POE47TS and connected a 12VDC power adapter. This time, I was able to connect to my LAN after I entered the same password as before. I rebooted and it connected to my LAN via WiFi at startup because I had selected that option. My DHCP server shows it gave the 7TS the IP address that I had reserved for the MAC address listed on the screen mentioned in my previous post. I assume that means that MAC address is only used by the TS7’s WiFi interface.
I was also able to connect to my M1G. I didn’t try to do much because my M1G is in test mode sitting on my workbench. Based on the few things I did do, it looks like it is working correctly.
Please do not assume this means I am okay with using WiFi instead of a hardwired connection. I’ve spent a lot of time, effort, and money under the assumption that a hardwired connection will work. As a rule, I use static IP addresses for all my “non-mobile” LAN devices. As previously mentioned, my first preference is the ability to provide a static IP address via a 7TS screen (as I do with all of my hardwired LAN devices). If necessary for the short term, I’m willing to use DHCP as long as the MAC address doesn’t change at reboot, which would require me to edit my DHCP server’s table every time the 7TS was rebooted.
