Hey,
Is there a way to disable certain notifications for certain users? Say if a customer doesn’t want to know every time the system is armed/disarmed, but only wants to know if there is an active alarm, can I toggle it so they don’t receive arm/disarm notifications? I couldn’t find a way, and couldn’t see it documented anywhere. Thanks,

Jeff,
At this time, there is not an option to disable notifications by group or type. It is on the list to add to the web portal. I will ask for an update as to when we can expect to see this implemented.
Currently all Arming/Disarming, Troubles, and Alarms are set via notifications.
With the user login via the web portal, the user can select and or add who gets Notifications and which format the notifications are sent in. They can choose from Push, Email, or Text. They can also disable all of them from here as well.
Thanks,
Mike

I have customers that aren’t really concerned with Arming/Disarming notifications, they just want to know if the system is in Alarm. Would be great to select what notifications they receive.
March 28, 2025 at 11:51 am #8929Roberto TokiciI do not see where to modify these notifications in the web portal. where do you navigate to?
Thanks.

Roberto – These are only viewed from the end user login to ElkConnect.com. If you are using your dealer login email as the “account” email, when you login the system will always show you the dealer portal. Under the account, it needs to be assigned to an email that is not listed as dealer. Once logged in as the end user, you will see the notifications tab.
The end user login will look like this image below.

The email address I am referring to is the one below used for the account. This needs to not match the one you use for your dealer login.

Thanks,
Mike

Roberto – What is the last four digits of the MAC for the system your referring to? Also, I assume your referring to SMS/Text Message and Push Notifications? Has the user added a phone number to the ElkConnect User WebPortal? They will also have to enable the notifications in the portal as well via this page.
September 26, 2025 at 9:14 pm #9577Roberto TokiciYes there is a phone number, yes all the features are turned on but I guess you guys dont support Bell and Rogers. I am not sure why you are charging $5.00 per month if these features are not implemented fully??
I have created another email , not my dealer email. and have 3 other users in the account. We need a primary email as dealers and sub emails for account users, but also notifications need to work. The Email’s come in sometimes 7 minutes later after the system is armed or disarmed…. this does not work well at all!!!
The MAC for the controller is CC031EB036EA

Roberto,
I completely understand your frustration. Let me give you a bit more context so you can see how we got to this point.
When we launched the ElkConnect WebPortal in late 2023, the plan was to support Push, Email, and SMS/Text notifications. For SMS/Text, we used the same approach most security service providers relied on at the time: email-to-SMS. In this method, the server emails an address tied to a carrier (for example, 5551234567@vtext.com for Verizon), and the carrier converts it into a text message. This was widely supported, simple to implement, and didn’t involve carrier fees—just our cost to maintain the mail server.
By the time we launched, Bell and Rogers had already ended support for this service, so we couldn’t include them. Unfortunately, since then, AT&T, Verizon, and most other large carriers have also shut it down. For now, it still works for some existing customers, but it’s only a matter of time before it fully stops. With the MAC I can see failed SMS attempts in your logs, this is why your having a delay your email notifications (since the system retries SMS for each user before moving on to email). Push is first, SMS is second, then Emails in the send priority.
The path forward is a direct, paid SMS service that works like sending a text from a mobile phone—reliable, carrier-independent, and not subject to these shutdowns. I’ve already approved this project, and engineering has started work on it, though other priorities have slowed progress. I’ll be reviewing it with the team to push it along.
In the meantime, Push and Email are fully supported. If you turn off SMS for your users, email delivery will be much quicker since the system won’t be hung up retrying failed texts.
I’ll update this thread as soon as the new SMS service is live. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and appreciate your patience as we make this transition.
Thanks,
Michael BurrellSeptember 27, 2025 at 10:24 am #9579Roberto TokiciYou are saying Push is supported, but I do not see that working either. Does Push work on the dealer account? I do not see anywhere on the dealer account where to set notifications settings.
Notifications are set to ON on the phone.
September 27, 2025 at 10:28 am #9580Roberto TokiciAlso what is the notification contact setting on the top right of the screen, I have double users on the page as well, one with the small person logo and one with the keypad logo.

Push notifications are only supported for end-user logins to the app. Since you are both a dealer and an end user for this account, it adds some complexity.
For push notifications to work, you must first enable them on the ElkConnect website when logged in as a User. Then log in to the app using the same User credentials and connect to the system at least once. Doesn’t matter which PIN you connect to the system with (Installer or End User), it matters which User Name and Password is used to login into the app. Once you do this it syncs to the push server and activates the push notifications.
If you log in to the app with your dealer account (user name and password) on the same mobile device, it will clear the push notifications because dealer logins are restricted from receiving them. The next time you log in with your User credentials and connect to the control, push notifications will resume. It is the act of logging in as a dealer on the app that clears the push option.
I will review with the app team whether it’s necessary to prevent dealers from receiving push notifications. Personally, I run into the same issue since I’m both the installer and the user for my own home.

The small person logo indicates they have an ElkConnect App/Website login. The small keypad is a PIN code in the system its self.
There are Logins and PINS that are managed. These are in two data bases. Logins are in the cloud for access to the Website and App, PINS are in the panel (never the cloud for security) and are used for accessing the panel and arming/disarming etc.
