What you ran into is related to the DHCP response from the router. If the DHCP server provides an IP address and subnet but does not include a DNS server in the response, the panel will still come online locally, but certain services will not function properly. Things like cloud connectivity, time synchronization, and other services rely on DNS to resolve hostnames.
Setting a static IP with a valid DNS server, like you did, is a perfectly good workaround.
In most cases routers will automatically include a DNS server in the DHCP offer, so this is not something we see often, but it can happen depending on how the router or network profile is configured. We will also review how the panel handles situations like this to see if we can improve the behavior to be more resilient in future updates.
