Tagged: Ethernet trouble message
M1EXP Firmware 5.3.10 I am using ElkRP on a PC. My Elk System has been working flawlessly for years. Last night sudden error of “Ethernet Trouble”. Cannot connect. It is assigned port 2601. I cannot ping the IP address of this M1. (However, I can still login/ping/connect to my other M1 system that is in another building.) In summary: the M1 suddenly no longer connects to Ethernet. Is there another component that may have failed…Elk M1XSL?
Have you tried power cycling the M1XEP? If it’s set for DHCP, is it’s IP address reserved for it in your router?
I have cycled power…no change. IP address is fixed, not served. Port is fixed 2601. No communication with this M1XEP. Do M1XEPs just stop working?
Same sort of setup on the other M1XEP (port 2602), which has no problems.
What happens in ELKRP if you click on “M1XEP setup” and search for units? Do you only see the one that still works? It could have lost it’s fixed IP address setting and acquired a new address by DHCP.
Also, does the link LED on the M1XEP’s ethernet connector blink, showing a network connection and activity?
I only find the one that still works. And…I took the M1XEP and its power supply to the router and plugged it in directly, bypassing the existing cable which runs through the walls…and still not activity on the line. I do not see any other answer – so far – other than to replace the M1XEP.
One last thing to try: swapping the power supplies between your two M1XEP units.
Yes, that was it. Jeff Bonvallet of HomePlicity recommended that as well. I had an extra 12v supply that fit…and that cured the problem. Thank you for thr support!
Nice!
