Hi
Both on my system and a friends system, the M1EXP has for no reason defaulted back to its default IP address of 192.168.0.251.
Both of these panels have not been touched in literally years and so there was no reason for this to happen, but as of earlier this year, both made the change.
Any reason for this happening – is it a known bug?
I am also having trouble changing it back. The Send and Receive buttons are greyed out.
I also cant connect with ElkRP with wither the default Ip address or the previously assigned IP address.
The M1EXP setup can find the adapter in a search, but RP will never connect to the IP address its reporting – it does ping though and a browser does report its there.
May 14, 2024 at 10:58 am #7978Brad WeeksYou will need to use the JP2 jumper on the M1XEP and the instructions on page 18 of the M1XEP Installation Manual to make sure the M1XEP is in DHCP Mode (Green LED blinking once per second) and once Green LED is blinking once per second remove the JP2 Jumper and allow the M1XEP to reboot. Once rebooted:
- OPen ElkRP2 version 2.0.40 and your Account
- Click Setup, Options, Network Adapters
- Under Network Adapters in the dropdown you should see the IP Address of your PC on the LAN
- Highlight the IP of your PC, click OK and close the Network Adapter
- Click the M1XEP Setup, click FIND and ElkRP2 should Find the M1XEP on the LAN
- The IP of your PC and the M1XEP should be within the same range — for example PC 192.168.1.100 and M1XEP 192.168.1.105
- Highlight the IP of the M1XEP, click Use Selected and close the M1XEP Setup
- On the Account Detail Screen System URL/IP will be the IP of the M1XEP on the LAN
- Port should be 2601 and the option to Connect Non-Secure should NOT be checked
- Try the connection again and if successful click Send/Rcv, Enroll/Update Control and Devices and the last item in the list is the M1XEP which should be running Firmware 2.0.48

Can I ask why this procedure needs to be followed?
What is it that this procedure will fix?
Also, can you comment on why two M1EXP’s have suddenly gone back to default address for no apparent reason? Just trying to understand whats going on so I can identify issues more quickly in the future
May 15, 2024 at 10:53 am #7982Brad Weeks192.168.0.251 is a default IP the M1XEP will revert to if it can’t get an IP from the router or if it is set to a Static IP. Using the JP2 Jumper and the Instructions on page 18 of the M1XEP Installation Manual will place the M1XEP into DHCP Mode so it will receive an IP from the router. Once it receives a IP Address compatible with you LAN use ElkRP2 version 2.0.40 to Find and Connect. If the M1XEP is not running Firmware 2.0.48 I would suggest updating .
