How can the dealer manage the time setting and location for a customer system?
December 21, 2024 at 11:58 pm #8650Jeff NoelAre you talking about something other then logging in as an Installer, going to System Settings, then Time and Location?
December 23, 2024 at 12:25 am #8651JOHN WADEJeff, yes, when I go to that setting in the app with an installer login on the system it does not allow me to make any changes.
December 30, 2024 at 9:50 am #8661Michael BurrellJohn – I apologize for missing this post.
The time and location is set from the System Settings under Time and Location when logged in as the installer. The time and location are set via a google map pin. Below is an overview of how this works.
When you open the Time and Location page you will see this below. To set or edit the location click on the blue arrow icon in the system location next to the address.
Once you click the icon, it will bring up a google map with a pin as shown below.
To set the location/time. You will need to set a pin in the location of the panel. If needed, you can enter an address in the search at the top of the page. The other option is to just move the map to location of the panel and place a pin. Once completed, click save in the system settings and the time will update based on the location of the panel.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know.
Thanks,
Mike
December 30, 2024 at 5:01 pm #8667JOHN WADEMike, Nothing happens when I touch the blue arrow. Apparently the default address is 3266 US HWY 70 SW. I am using an installer code. Motorola Android phone and current ELK app. Tried on multiple accounts.
Thanks,
John

January 21, 2025 at 3:42 pm #8717JOHN WADEThe answer is that Elk must be allowed to use location. It does not currently pop up and ask for that permission.
January 21, 2025 at 3:43 pm #8720Michael BurrellJohn – Brad let me know I missed this post. I apologize, the forum doesn’t automatically subscribe you to the threads that you respond to. But I get notified on brand new threads, I hadn’t gotten any so I hadn’t checked the forum. I will see if I can have it subscribe automatically in the future. I have clicked the button on this one. Just wanted to explain that I wasn’t intentionally ignoring your post.
Again – I apologize for the missing this one. Twice.
January 22, 2025 at 8:10 am #8723Michael BurrellJohn – Thanks for the feedback and input. We will continue to do some testing around notifying the user when the app is being blocked. We had implemented the pop up action you mentioned for Android and it works with in our test devices (Android OS 10-15). But that said, there are wide variety of Android OS out there and it appears some differences. We will continue reviewing this and see if we can implement a fix to include more devices.
Thanks,
Mike
