User Accessibly Questions from a Previous Honeywell System Owner

I am an end user. Not an installer. In a previous location I was used to a Honeywell system that was connected to a Savant home management system. There was cellular and internet connections. I think the Savant system may have used RS-232 to bridge into the panel. All of that really doesn’t matter. What does matter is that as a Honeywell user I was able to use Resideo on the web (or the TotalConnect app) to manage users, see the panel status, get push alerts, even get a geofence alert if I went outside a selected perimeter and the home was disarmed. I code also see who was arming or disarming the system. I was told Savant and TC may not play well together but they worked flawlessly for years. The only problem I sometimes saw was a delay in TC getting the panel status or changing the alarm state.

Now moving to a place where Elk is installed (M1 Gold) I have been told there is no way to easily manage user codes. App access (be it from Elk or 3rd party) cannot be used if Savant is connected. (Meaning it is one or the other) On top of that, the features I became used to with Resideo (TotalConnect) noted previously are not available. Yet, it also seems like no one seems to have all the answers with Elk on one side, Savant in the middle, and apps (or web / desktop) yet another part of the equation.

I am a highly technically capable user. I don’t mind going down more “complicated” solutions. I don’t need to be changing anything for the alarm setup outside of users but I do want something more than just using the Elk from the Savant app and the keypads.

What is the Network interface at this location the M1XEP or the C1M1? If you have the M1XEP the M1XEP will support multiple connections from Integration Partners for example the APPS and Home Automation platforms Savant, Control 4, Elan, Crestron and others. If using the C1M1 will recommend only having one device/service connect at one time. If the ElKRP2 Programming Software connects to the M1 ALL Other connections are suspended until ElkRP2 disconnects.  The method to Add/Delete Users is either from the ElkRP2 Software or from Keypad Programming.
