      Hi all,

I’ve bought a pre-loved M1 Gold (hw version 0.11) and related bits and bobs around it (M1KPNAV keypad, M1KP2 keypad, M1XEP ethernet expander, ELK-70 speaker). Most things work and are easy to get going but there is something odd going on with the voice system that I can’t seem to figure out, nor for which there seems to be a lot of Google hits. So hoping an expert here might be able to point me in the right direction.

      Current state

      • SW/FW: All other hardware is connected and working.
        • Firmware: M1G 3.3.6/5.3.35, M1KPNAV 1.0.4/1.0.38, M1KP2 3.0.14/2.1.54, M1XEP 2.0.4/2.0.51
        • Software: ElkRP 2.0.41
      • Speaker: I’ve measured the wire/speaker separately and combination when installed. All is good (8ohm at molex)
      • Reset: I’ve executed an eeprom wipe from the keypad and re-started a new account in ElkRP (Global reinitialization -> 99)

      Issues

      • I have not been able to get sound out of the speaker
      • Conflict screen
        • Every time I sync ElkRP with the system there are a lot of conflicts for “Voice Message vm<number>” the numbers range from 209 to vm323
        • Pressing “Send checked item(s) to system” but that never does anytying as when I check for conflicts again they’re back
        • Pressing “Receive check item(s) to database” throws an error
        • Clicking on “View differences for selected items” for the VM entries crashes ElkRP
        • I can reliably create above vm conflicts by going Send/Recv -> Check for Conflicts
      • None of the voice buttons work in ElkRP for example if I go to Automation -> Voice -> * -> Press “Send and Say”, nothing happens (if there is a conflict, the conflict goes away, but comes back on next sync)

      Thanks for any hints/advice!

You can try Defaulting Just the Voice but I’m not hopeful this is going to correct this issue. From the M1KP2 keypad:

        • Press the ELK key, screen should display 1-View/Control Automation Fncts
        • Press the 9 key, screen should display 9-Installation Programming (0)
        • Press the Right Arrow key at which point you should be prompted “Auth Required Enter Valid PIN” — Factory Default is 172839 or check Globals G29-G42 (Special) for “Local programming Code”
        • Screen should display 01-Bus Module Enrollment
        • Type 07, screen should display 07-Globals System Definitions
        • Press the Right Arrow key, screen should display G01: =…..,
        • Type 45, screen should display G45:DefaultCtl
        • Press the Right Arrow Key and type 94
        • Once complete exit from keypad programming and retest

Worst case the Board could be sent back to ELK for evaluation which would be subject to the Out Of Warranty Inspection Fee

          Hi Brad,

Thanks for the response, I’ve tried what you said but no change. When I try to “receive check items to database” an error pops up stating “The plug-in voice board is missing or not working.” would that be a usable hint?

          Thanks!

Wanted to report back that a private hint I got from Brad solved it. There is a separate board inside the M1G housing for sound. I opened it up and while nothing looked out of place on first inspection, after re-seating the sound board I’m happy to report that now everything works.

Really great support Brad/Elk, thank you so much!
