      I installed an ELK-M1PCSPIM with XSP firmware version 1.0.48 and it seems to be running fine. Should I upgrade the XSP to the new version 1.0.50 or leave well enough alone?

        If the M1XSP Release Notes for Firmware Update 1.0.50 do not include any enhancements to the UPB Lighting then I would not suggest updating the Firmware. Firmware Updates should only be performed if the update pertains to a specific product, enhancement, feature or to correct an issue.
