I inherited this wonderful system m1 gold with the house I just bought. I just can’t get the Ethernet module to be connected to the router.
I can detect it using the Utility device but unable receive a ping back.
im pretty sure it’s the firmware issue. How do I update the firmware. I can’t tell which version it has. Should I directly connect it to my pc using serial USB ? I don’t have windows xp so that option is out.
Power up the M1XEP and wait for the Green Network LED to start blinking a steady pattern of either one blink or two blinks per second
IF one blink remove the JP2 jumper with power applied and allow the M1XEP to reboot
IF two blinks per second power off then back up and this time the Green LED should be blinking once per second and you can remove the JP2 jumper
Using ElkRP2 version 2.0.40 in the M1XEP Setup click Trace, click Select All, click Show Setup and within the data you should see Application and Bootware versions. If you do not see any data then the firmware is too old to support this feature. Next try the M1XEP Special 2.0.34 Updater Utility https://www.elkproducts.com/elk-m1xep-and-windows-compatibility/ click on the link and scroll down to the M1XEP Special 2.0.34 Updater Utility and click on the utility to run — follow the prompts. The utility should tell you:
The Firmware in the M1XEP is too old
The Firmware is already at 2.0.34 or later
The Utility will attempt to update the firmware in your M1XEP and if successful you will need to wait about 10 minutes before attempting the connection
