John,
The necessary firmware updates have been completed in the E27 to support this feature. The next step is to update the mobile app to manage it.
This marks a major shift from the previous “local-only” method. Based on field feedback, the local-only approach has been experiencing issues on congested networks. While these issues occur randomly, we were able to reproduce them in a controlled lab setup by introducing various network disruptions. The issue revolves around the communication managers within the app struggling to handle broken or partial packets. Although we accounted for this, there are still cases where the update process gets “stuck,” requiring the app to be restarted. We have resolved this in our test software, which addresses these challenges.
Additionally, the panel previously had to be in bootloader mode for an update. In this mode, cloud connectivity is unavailable, making remote updates impossible. To address this, we have modified the control firmware to allow updates in normal mode in preparation for remote updating.
Currently, this is in the App Dev queue for development. Their queue is full, with the touchscreen project consuming most of their time. So far, we have only made minor app updates while focusing on the touchscreen. I have prioritized this project for remote firmware updating to ensure they address it as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Mike
