From time to time, Elk Products may release updates to a system’s main unit or its peripherals. An update may include bug fixes or enhancements to a product. It contains the firmware or instructions that run in a product. Contact Elk Products or visit our web site to see what updates are available.
Use this command to send an update to a system’s main unit or peripheral(s). The system must be connected to ElkRP first. When you select this command, a window appears displaying the main unit and all connected peripherals, along with their current hardware, bootware, and firmware versions. Select a device then click Update. ElkRP looks for updates in the folder specified in the Setup menu. Updates are files with a “bin” suffix. If one or more exist, they are listed in a drop-down box. Select the update to use (typically, the latest one) and click Update. ElkRP will send the update.
ElkRP can update only one device at a time.
Should you chose to send an update having an older firmware version than what is already in the device, ElkRP will ask to make sure you want to “roll back” to the earlier version. Likewise, if you try to “re-program” the same version, ElkRP will ask for confirmation.
If an error occurs during the update, ElkRP will warn you and cancel the update. You may attempt the update again.
The Enroll button causes the main unit to “scan” the data bus and discover newly connected devices. When found, they will be automatically enrolled. This function is identical to bus module enrollment performed via keypad programming.
