Following is an alphabetical list of error messages, their possible causes and resolutions. If you receive an error message that is not in this list, it may be specific to one model of control. Refer to that model’s on-line help.
Access to this function is restricted.
Your system administrator has set up users with rights to access certain areas of an account the area you are trying to view or change is restricted.
Account account number already exists.
Do you want to replace it?
You are attempting to save an account under a name (Account ID) that already exists. If you want to write over the existing account, select Yes. Otherwise, select No and choose a different name.
Accounts containing custom settings may not be deleted.
You are attempting to delete an account that has been set up to hold customized program information (for creating new accounts). They cannot be deleted.
Administrator name and password are required to make the database writable.
Only the system administrator can fix this problem. Log out and log in again as the system administrator, and retry the command.

Only the system administrator can access this area of ElkRP. Log out and log in again as the system administrator, and try again.
At least one operator must be given authority to add and change operators and passwords.
If Multi-operator Access is enabled, at least one person must be chosen to be the system administrator. That person must be able to access the Operator’s Setup screen. Choose one or more operators to be granted this permission, edit their security settings, and place a check in the box beside Change ElkRP setup information.
Cannot find the operators database or it is not a valid ElkRP operators database.
If it does not exist, you will need to re-install ElkRP.

The Operators database contains a list of all operators. Even if Multi-operator Access is disabled, this database is still needed by ElkRP. This error may occur if it has been deleted, renamed, or damaged. Click Yes to search for it. If you cannot locate it, it will be necessary to create it. Re-install ElkRP to create it, then add the operators again.
Folder could not be created. Please choose another name.
The folder name you entered could not be created, possibly because you entered an illegal Windows name or because the disk is write-protected or full. Check the spelling and disk space and try again.
Name or Password not found.
Please try again.
Either the name you entered to log on was not found in the operator’s database or the password is incorrect. Verify the spelling and try again. Case is significant for the password. “PASSWORD,” “PassWord,” and “password” are all different.
No matching accounts found.
No accounts were found matching the search criteria you entered. Remove some search restrictions by clearing one or more boxes on the search dialog and try again.
Please enter an account number.
The account number was left blank. Enter an account number and try again.
Please select a valid account to copy.
When creating a new account, you chose to copy the program information from an existing account, but did not select an account.
Please select the modem to use from the Setup Menu.
You attempted to make a modem connection or enable Auto-answer and Send mode but no modem has been selected for ElkRP to use. Select a modem on the Setup/Communications menu.
System Information is not available.
The Windows component that displays your computer’s System Information is not installed. Contact you computer vendor for instructions to restore it.
That account already exists.
When creating a new account, you entered the Account ID of an existing account. Enter a unique Account Id and try again.
That backup file already exists. Overwrite it?
When backing up ElkRP’s log file, you entered the name of an existing log backup. Enter a different name and try again.
That folder does not exist. Do you want to create it?
The folder you entered for firmware updates does not exist. Verify you spelled the path correctly and, if so, click Yes.
That operator is already in the list.
You tried to add an operator’s name that is already in the list. If it is a different operator, choose a different log-on name and try again.
The accounts database is out of date. An update is available.
Do you want to update it now?
You recently received or downloaded an ElkRP update from Elk Products. Unless you choose Yes, ElkRP will not be able to connect to systems running the latest version firmware.
The accounts database version is later than what ElkRP is aware of.
You should contact Elk Products or visit our web site to obtain an update. If this message appears again following the update, please contact Elk Products Technical Support for assistance.
ElkRP knows what version its databases should be. This message will appear if, somehow, a database was updated and ElkRP was not aware of the update. Get and install the latest complete update from Elk Products’ web site.
The account you are opening is a customized account template.
The values you program in it are used whenever you want to set an item in a normal account to the custom values.
This is not an error, but a warning. You are opening a Custom Values account. These accounts contain customized (default) values for creating new accounts and setting values to custom in existing accounts. Continue only if you are certain you want to be editing this account.
The database “database name” is read-only.
Do you want to make it writable?
(Note: Unless it is writable, you will not be able to save any of your accounts.)
Somehow, Windows’ Read-Only flag got set for the database. This typically happens if the database was copied to a CD and back to the hard disk. The database must be writable to be used. Choose Yes.

The database you are trying to open is not an accounts database. You may be attempting to open one of ElkRP’s other databases or an entirely unrelated database. Choose a valid ElkRP accounts database and try again. The default name for this database is ElkAccts.mdb, although your system administrator may have renamed it.
The operators database is damaged.
It should be re-created by running the ElkRP installation program.

This error may occur because the database may not be the operators’ database, although it may be named the same. More likely, the operators database was damaged – perhaps because of improper computer shutdown or power failure. If this is the case, re-install ElkRP to create the database and enter the operators’ names and passwords again.
