File Menu: Find Account

For large customer databases, finding an account may be difficult. This menu command simplifies that task. When you select it, a window opens to allow you to enter specific search criteria. Fill in all the information you know about the account. The more information you provide, the easier it is to locate a specific account. You can search on almost every field that appears in the Account Details Screen, such as name, city, zip code, and even the system’s telephone number.

ElkRP finds all accounts that match the information you entered. If only one account is found, it is opened. If two or more accounts match the search criteria, they are listed for you to select one. You can enter “wildcards” in the search criteria boxes. Wildcards match any character. The wildcards are:

• Percent ( % ) matches any number of characters

• Underscore ( _ ) matches any single character.

• Pound sign ( # ) matches any single digit

Examples:

• New% in the City box would return all accounts in “New York,” “Newark,” and “Newton.”

• %5th St% in the Address box would return accounts with addresses such as “4421 5th Street, NW,” “100 25th St. S.E.,” and “1007 West 5th St” Note in the last example, there are no characters following the search string. The percent sign matches any number of characters, including no characters.

• A_ in the State box would match “AK,” “AL,” “AR,” and “AZ.”

• 828-327-#### in the Voice Number box would match any telephone number in the 828 area and 327 exchange.

The search is not case-sensitive, so, entering New% or new% would achieve the same result.

If anything is entered in the Address box, ElkRP searches for that string in both the Address 1 and Address 2 fields. If it is found in either field, it is considered a match.
