ElkRP uses an accounting business model to store and retrieve information about your customers. Each customer, whether residential or commercial, is assigned an Account ID. Account IDs are similar to the account numbers you may have assigned for your financial accounting records. In fact, you could use the same number. ElkRP Account IDs may be up to twenty characters long and consist of numbers, letters, spaces, and punctuation marks.
If you have several accounts, you may want to organize them in groups called folders. For example, you may want to put all your commercial accounts in one folder and all residential accounts in another folder. If the residential folder is very large, you can break it into smaller sub-folders such as “Local Accounts” and “Long-distance Accounts.”
The folders and sub-folders you choose are displayed in a tree structure to make it easy to find the account you are looking for. Navigation of the tree is very similar to navigating your hard disk’s directories in Windows File Explorer or My Computer.
All information pertinent to an account, from name and address to user codes, is stored in a database called the Accounts Database.
