ElkRP may be left to run un-attended. In this mode, it will answer all incoming telephone calls. If ElkRP detects the caller is a system manufactured by Elk Products, it will look for that system’s account in the accounts database. If the account is found, ElkRP will automatically send the entire contents of that account from the database to the system. This is the same as a full download.
This feature is useful for various situations. For example, an installer may be working late to finish a job. The operator, wanting to leave the office by 5:00, could program the account and save it, then put ElkRP in the un-attended mode, and leave. When the installer is ready to program the new system, all he needs to do is program the number to call ElkRP, then cause the system to dial. ElkRP will answer, recognize the new account, and program it, all automatically. In a similar situation, a sole-proprietor could create a new account, program and save it, then leave the office to finish the installation. At the job site, all he needs to do is program ElkRP’s number and cause the system to dial in to be programmed.
To put ElkRP in the un-attended mode, close the account (if open), and select the Auto-answer And Send command in the Connection menu. While in this mode, ElkRP lists all incoming calls on the screen, and reports whether any were valid systems that were programmed. When you return to the computer, you will see the record on the screen. ElkRP also logs all actions in this mode in the log file.
